MHS field use expectations

Good afternoon HLL colleagues,

As a result of more collaboration between The Milton Hershey School and Hershey Little League, several MHS fields have been made available on a limited basis this season for both practices and some games.  MHS has four teams registered in Little League this year:  1-Majors, 2-Minors and 1-Colts.

Please review the field locations outlined in the 2017 Hershey Little League Safety Manual which was distributed to all Commissioners, Head Coaches, and also posted on the HLL website.

MHS fields known as "Gibraltar", "Crest Lane" and "Van Buren" have been scheduled by HLL for team practices beginning the first few weeks of our season. See the HLL calendar.  Once additional practice times have been opened up to HLL teams, these fields may also be scheduled/requested for practice use if/when they are available.

Several other fields will be available to HLL for GAMES only, and will be scheduled by HLL Commissioners only, in collaboration with MHS.  (Catherine Hall, "Venice/North Campus", "Memorial Hall", "Logan Field" and perhaps the MHS HS Varsity Softball field, following the end of their season.)  Coaches must consult with their league commissioner to request use of these five MHS fields for make-up games.

ALL MHS fields are private property and any HLL member is a guest of the School at all times.  Therefore:

The use of tobacco products, vaping or alcohol are prohibited at all times.

The maximum speed limit on any MHS campus road is 25 mph (and should be decreased to 15 mph when passing near students.)

Parking at games and practices on the MHS campus is limited to parking lots in proximity to the field, and there is no parking alongside of roadways or in the grass.  (With the exception of the Van Buren Field, the Gibraltar Field and the Crest Lane Field--parking instructions for these three practice fields will be shared with Commissioners, Coaches and posted on the HLL website.)

No coach, umpire, parent or other guests are permitted to park in any of the MHS Student Home driveways or yard areas.

Coaches, players, umpires or fans are not permitted to enter the student homes or surrounding areas near student homes by any field available to HLL.

Renewing and strengthening the relationship between HLL and MHS is a wonderful opportunity to bring both communities and kids together.  It will be every HLL member's responsibility to be good stewards of the expanded field use opportunities provided to HLL by MHS; just as MHS's teams and coaches will set a good example to all of HLL in their first year of full participation.

Again, more information regarding the use of MHS fields, parking expectations, etc. will be shared with team coaches very soon.
